The Agricultural University Faisalabad hosts celebrations for the Chinese New Year.

The Confucius Institute at the Agricultural University Faisalabad organized festivities for the Chinese New Year, featuring various performances showcasing Chinese culture. Professor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice-Chancellor of the Agricultural University Faisalabad, was the special guest of honor, while Dr. Chuchang Meng, the Chinese Dean of the Confucius Institute, and Vice-Chairman/Local Dean Professor Dr. Zaheer Ahmad Zaheer addressed the gathering.

During the event, Dean of Sciences Dr. Ijaz Ahmed Bhatti, Dean of Veterinary Sciences Dr. Farzana Rizvi, Principal Officer Public Relations and Publications Dr. Jalal Arif, Trigger Omar Saeed Qadri, Director Research Dr. Jafar Jiskani, Director External Linkages Dr. Kashif Saleemi, Director Soil Sciences Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, Director Planning and Development Irfan Abbas, and others participated.

The students presented captivating performances showcasing Chinese culture, including Taiji performances, singing, chopstick competitions, a Chinese cultural dress show, and more. Dr. Chuchang Meng stated that the year 2024 is the Dragon Chinese Year, symbolizing good luck, happiness, opportunities, wisdom, and energy. He expressed optimism that this year would be beneficial for the friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan.

Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan highlighted the strengthening of educational and research ties with Chinese institutions through the Confucius Institute. He emphasized the need to learn from China’s experiences in agriculture and economic development. The Agricultural University has established centers such as the Center for Advanced Studies under international collaboration, the Pakistan-Korea Nutrition Center, the Seed Center, and others.

Dr. Zaheer Ahmad Zaheer mentioned that Pak-China economic corridor projects are strengthening relations, and efforts are being made to face mutual challenges through joint initiatives and shared expertise.
