Kashmir Solidarity Day to be celebrated across Pakistan, 5th February, 2024.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is being celebrated across Pakistan to show the unwavering support for Pakistan in favor of the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people to have their right of self determination as guaranteed by the UN resolutions. The Ministry of Kashmir Affairs released a statement on Sunday 4th February, 2024 unveiling that plans had been made to celebrate the day both domestically and internationally. It further stated that at 9:30 am, there will be a one-minute pause in honor of the Kashmiri martyrs.

The ministry announced that nationwide solidarity walks would be held to commemorate the day. It further stated that cabinet ministers would lead a protest in support of the Kashmiri people on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad. Members of parliament and individuals from various backgrounds would attend the event. Important thoroughfares, airports, and train stations would all have billboards and posters highlighting the predicament of the Kashmiri people.

Educational institutions will host essay writing competitions, declamation and debate competitions, and other events in honor of the day. The media will air special shows to show support for the IIOJK’s downtrodden Kashmiris. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar said in his speech on the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day, August 5, 2019, that India’s illegal and unilateral actions were a flagrant violation of international law, including the UN Security Council resolutions in question, the UN Charter, and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

“Since then, India has been working to strengthen these unlawful policies by taking a number of actions targeted at changing the political and demographic makeup of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir [IIOJK],” the prime minister declared. He continued by saying that the “Kashmir Solidarity Day” was an opportunity to honor the sacrifices made by their brothers and sisters in Kashmir over the last 76 years. He went on, “Pakistan will continue to offer this just cause its unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support.”

At a news conference, the SAPM, Farooq Rehmani, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, and Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, top Hurriyyat leaders, reaffirmed Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) people’s steadfast support for their Kashmiri brethren in their rightful struggle. The people of Jammu and Kashmir, according to her, stand in the way of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitions to establish an Akhand Bharat. She called both the Zionist regime in Israel and the Hindutva regime in India serious challenges to international peace. She claimed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Indian Prime Minister Modi were engaged in a race to commit genocides, with Netanyahu pursuing a terrible genocide in Gaza and Modi pursuing one in Kashmir.

With profound concern for the state of affairs in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Mullick bemoaned the Indian government’s prohibition on political parties that represent the interests of the IIOJK populace. She conveyed her concern that her husband, Yasin Malik, a well-known person in IIOJK, will be unfairly singled out and used as a scapegoat in the wake of Modi’s election victory. She claimed that by giving non-Kashmiris Kashmiri domiciles, India was deliberately changing the demographics of the IIOJK. She emphasized the IIOJK people’s past boycott of the region’s fake elections. She issued a warning, stating that the unlawful settlements and the unauthorized granting of Kashmiri domiciles to non-Kashmiris could be held responsible for any potential rise in voter turnout during the impending September elections. Mullick voiced concerns regarding the Modi government’s efforts to eradicate Muslim heritage. According to her, the RSS and radical Hindus viewed Modi’s opening of the Ram Mandir at the location of the former Babri Masjid as a victory for Hindutva. She went on to say that the RSS operated a transnational terror network and was present in Pakistan, the US, Canada, Australia, and the UK, among other nations. She called on the world community to work together to stop the RSS terror network’s growth.

Mullick brought up the formation of the Kashmir Consultative Committee, which she headed and which was tasked with developing suggestions on the Kashmir problem for the next administration to take into account. She also mentioned how she worked with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to open Kashmiri studies departments in Pakistani and AJKian universities. She also emphasized the establishment of Kashmir committees at the district level, which aims to increase public knowledge of the problem in Kashmir at the local level.
