Karachi Colleges Banned from Accepting Cash Payments for Fees

The Directorate of Colleges Education for Karachi has officially banned all colleges from accepting cash payments from students, instructing them to ensure all fees are deposited directly into designated bank accounts.

According to a notification issued by Regional Director Faqir Muhammad Lakho, college principals must oversee student service counters and ensure no cash transactions take place. Any violations or irregularities in fee collection will hold the respective principal accountable.

The decision comes after a recent fraud case at Government College for Women Nazimabad and Jinnah College Nazimabad, where staff members misappropriated examination fees. As a result, 250 associate degree students faced delays in receiving their admit cards.

To resolve the crisis, University of Karachi’s Controller of Examinations, Dr. Zafar, took urgent steps to issue admit cards to affected students. Meanwhile, the college principal lodged an FIR against those involved in the misappropriation.

This move aims to prevent future financial mismanagement and ensure transparency in fee collection across Karachi’s colleges.
