HEC Revises Geology Syllabus
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has revamped the Geology syllabus to keep pace with the latest advancements in the field, ensuring students are equipped with skills that meet industry demands and global standards.
During a two-day consultative session at the HEC Regional Center in Lahore, experts and senior faculty members from universities across Pakistan worked together, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Muhammad Shah, to update the curriculum.
Key Changes in the Updated Curriculum:
. Integration of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence, computational modelling, and geospatial analytics into geology programs.
. Introduction of specialized courses like AI & Computational Geology, preparing students for cutting- edge research and industry applications.
. Revised curricula for Associate Degree, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science in Geology, balancing theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical experience.
Once formally approved by HEC management, the updated syllabus will be implemented in universities across Pakistan.
