Schools and Colleges Across Sindh to Close on January 28

The Sindh College Education Department has announced that all public and private educational institutions under its jurisdiction will remain closed on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

The closure has been declared to honor Shab-e-Mairaj, observed on the 27th of Rajab, 1446. This significant occasion marks the night when Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ascended to the heavens—a deeply revered event in Islamic history.

The notification, signed by Asif Ikram, Secretary to the Government of Sindh, follows a decision made during a Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education held on November 28, 2024.

Shab-e-Mairaj is a night of reflection and prayer for Muslims around the world, as many spend the time seeking blessings and forgiveness. The closure allows students and staff to commemorate this sacred event.
