Islamabad Private Schools Decide on Extending Winter Vacations
Private schools in Islamabad have confirmed they will reopen as planned on Monday, January 6, with no extension to winter vacations, despite the ongoing cold weather. The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) reassured parents that the academic schedule remains unchanged, putting an end to speculation about a delay.
Schools under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), however, will resume classes later in the week, starting January 9, 2025.
In other regions, the approach varies due to differing weather conditions. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), schools will remain closed longer, reopening on February 6 instead of February 2, in response to a severe cold wave. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa schools will now reopen on January 7, after adjusting the initial return date of January 1.
In Punjab, public and private schools will extend their winter break until January 10, with classes resuming on January 13. Colleges under the Punjab Higher Education Department will reopen earlier, welcoming students back on January 6 after holidays that started on December 24, 2024.
These varying schedules highlight how different regions are navigating the challenges of the winter season while balancing academic needs.
