Punjab Launches Initiative to Distribute Warm Clothes to Students
The Punjab government has launched a heartwarming initiative to protect schoolchildren from the harsh winter weather by providing them with warm clothing.
Starting January 13, around 21,000 students in public schools across Lahore, Narowal, Rajanpur, and Layyah will receive essential winter items. These include sweaters, jackets, shoes, and uniforms to ensure they stay warm during the chilly months.
This effort, directed by the Chief Minister, is being implemented with the help of the Bait-ul-Mal Department and the Social Welfare Department. Officials have confirmed that schools eligible for the program have already been identified.
In a related move, the Punjab School Education Department has temporarily relaxed uniform rules for students. A recent notification allows children in both public and private schools to wear any type of warm clothing—such as jackets, sweaters, coats, hats, socks, and shoes—to keep them comfortable during the cold season. This policy will remain in effect until February 28, 2025.
These measures reflect the government’s commitment to prioritizing students’ well-being and ensuring no child has to brave the winter unprepared.
