Punjab Public Schools to Open Doors for Children with Disabilities
In a step toward inclusive education, the Punjab government has decided to allow children with mild physical disabilities to enroll in public schools, official sources reveal.
Under this new policy, students with minor disabilities will have the opportunity to attend nearby public schools. School principals have been instructed to ensure these admissions are handled without discrimination, fostering an inclusive environment for all.
Previously, many mainstream schools were reluctant to admit children with disabilities, leaving parents with no choice but to seek specialized institutions. This policy aims to break down those barriers, offering equal opportunities for education.
The final approval for this initiative will come from Punjab’s Minister for Education, Rana Sikandar Hayat, setting the stage for its implementation.
