In a bid to tackle teacher shortages and improve the quality of education, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Primary and Secondary Education has called for the urgent recruitment of new teachers.<\/p>\n

During a meeting led by committee head Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, key education challenges were discussed, including staff shortages and the need to support community schoolteachers. Tarand emphasized the importance of raising teachers\u2019 salaries to align with minimum wage standards, ensuring fair compensation for their work.<\/p>\n

The session, attended by Provincial Education Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai, several MPAs, and senior education officials, focused on measures to enhance the learning experience in schools. Discussions included the renewal of contracts for school leaders, whose primary role is to monitor and maintain the quality of education. Tarakai shared that proposals are in progress to define the future responsibilities of these leaders.<\/p>\n

To further address staff management, the committee decided that education department staff will now be transferred after serving 1.5 years at one location. This initiative will first be implemented in three districts before expanding across the province.<\/p>\n

Efforts to boost student enrollment in low-literacy areas are also underway. A new scholarship program<\/a> has been launched in the merged districts to encourage more children to attend school. Additionally, plans to expand the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) are being developed to help students transition into mainstream education. Tarand urged officials to address current challenges in the program before scaling it up.<\/p>\n

The committee also addressed delays in school construction projects in Charsadda and Swat. Special Secretary Education Qaiser Alam has been instructed to expedite these projects, with a directive to seek Finance Department approval for completing pending schools.<\/p>\n

These initiatives reflect KP\u2019s commitment to improving education access and quality, ensuring that every child in the province has the opportunity to learn and thrive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
