Private schools have received a strict instruction from the Punjab government requiring them to arrange for their pupils’ transportation. This action is a component of the government’s endeavour to implement the directives of the Lahore High Court (LHC) in order to protect students and address environmental issues.<\/p>\n

The Punjab School Education Department (SED)<\/a> has informed private schools to submit comprehensive action plans for transport services by the end of the winter break in compliance to the court’s directives. Schools who disregard these directives run the risk of having their registrations revoked.<\/p>\n

All private schools must submit a documented plan detailing how they will provide transportation for at least 50% of their students, according to SED Secretary Khalid Nazir Wattoo. Additionally, schools are required to submit information about the number of students enrolled, the number of buses available, and the specifics of pupils who are currently utilising school-provided transportation services.<\/p>\n

In accordance with its bus facility policy, the Lahore High Court<\/a> had previously given schools a one-month window to renew their registrations. During the hearing of environmental public interest petitions, Justice Shahid Karim directed the education department to revoke the registration of any school that did not comply with these transportation standards.<\/p>\n

The court further mandated that a school’s registration be immediately suspended for any plans that were judged inadequate or missing. This directive highlights how important it is to give students access to ecologically friendly and safe mobility options.<\/p>\n

Nazeer Hussain Chheena, the chief executive officer of Lahore’s District Education Authority (DEA), has also directed private schools in the city to provide information on their most recent bus purchases. These needs have been sent to prominent institutions, including Lahore Grammar School, Beaconhouse, City School, Lacas, and others. Strict measures, including registration revocation, will result from noncompliance with these directives.<\/p>\n

The DEA and SED are dedicated to making sure that the LHC’s directives are carried out in their entirety. Authorities have said unequivocally that private schools must provide sufficient transport services in order to put kids’ safety and wellbeing first.
