The Punjab government has announced the reinstatement of thousands of District Teacher Educators (DTEs)<\/a>, ending an eight-year hiatus.<\/p>\n

The Secretary of Schools Education has issued orders to reinstate the DTEs. Currently, 4,560 DTEs are serving as teachers across Punjab, including 113 in Lahore.<\/p>\n

In 2017, the Punjab government ended the DTE program, reallocating the educators as regular teachers in various schools. With their reinstatement, the DTEs will return to their original role of training teachers across the province.<\/p>\n

In a related move, the Punjab government lifted the ban on teacher transfers in June 2024. Reports indicate that teachers must have a seniority number to apply for transfers, and those without one cannot submit applications online. Female teachers have expressed concerns about the need to visit offices to obtain their seniority numbers and have called for the removal of this requirement. Furthermore, teachers must have served at least three years in their current school to be eligible for a transfer, with those having less tenure not qualifying.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
