The National Disability and Development Forum (NDF)<\/a>, in partnership with the Network for Budget Accountability (CNBA) and managed by the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI)<\/a>, organized a dialogue in District Shaheed Benazirabad to discuss Pakistan\u2019s health and education budget allocations.<\/p>\n

Key speakers, including NDF President Abid Lashari and Program Manager Tariq Hussain Channar, analyzed budget trends from 2021-22 to 2024-25, highlighting challenges such as infrastructure gaps and regional disparities in these crucial sectors. While budgets have gradually increased, they still fall short of meeting growing needs, with significant disparities across provinces.<\/p>\n

Sindh was praised for its balanced education budget, allocating Rs 507,576 million across primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Meanwhile, Punjab and KP focused heavily on tertiary education, with limited funds for primary education. Balochistan, however, made notable progress with a 218% increase in its education budget for 2024-25, emphasizing primary and secondary education.<\/p>\n

The dialogue concluded with recommendations to close funding gaps, urging Pakistan to boost health budgets, improve hospital infrastructure, and focus on underserved areas. In education, it was recommended to shift priorities toward primary and secondary education, ensuring a solid foundation for future generations.<\/p>\n

These recommendations align with Pakistan\u2019s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education), aiming to provide equitable access to essential services and improve the quality of life for all citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
