Implementing a program to build “City Walls” and micro-librarie<\/a>s to highlight the culture of tiny communities has begun for the first time in Punjab’s history. The inception of this effort originated in Wazirabad, a Punjabi city renowned for its literary and commercial importance.<\/p>\n

Details from “Jang<\/a>” about the Chief Minister’s “Read Punjab Programme” state that book racks for mini libraries have been erected in Wazirabad’s public parks and in the waiting rooms of bus and train stations. At the beginning, residents of Wazirabad and tourists from nearby places could pick up more than 1,000 books at 15 different sites. These racks will get 1,000 more books added to them in the following two to three months.<\/p>\n

The program’s main objective is to encourage individuals to read for health benefits when they are in parks and while they wait for transit. To shield the books from bad weather, rainproof covers have been installed over the book racks.<\/p>\n

Special walls depicting the history and culture of Wazirabad tehsil have been constructed as part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s aim to promote the cultural legacy of small towns.
