At the University of Karachi<\/a> on Thursday, a sizable contingent of students demonstrated in opposition to a number of issues, such as increased fees, harsh penalties for late payments, a lack of transport options, a reduction in the number of faculty members, crumbling infrastructure, and escalating campus security. They threatened to intensify their demonstrations if these issues were not resolved.<\/p>\n

Leaders of student organisations united by holding a joint press conference to criticise the actions of the university administration. Several long-standing issues that had remained unresolved despite numerous student protests were brought up by Waqas Meer from the Punjabi Students Association (PSA), Hamza Alam from Islami Jamiat Talaba, Azhar Ali from Imamia Students Organisation (ISO), and Ali Bukhari from the People’s Students Federation (PSF).<\/p>\n

They drew attention to the fact that the university had increased semester fees once more and severely penalised students who made late payments while neglecting to offer essential services. The leaders have also voiced concern about the increase in criminal activity on campus, which includes recent months’ worth of motorcycle and cell phone thefts. They promised to keep up their campaign until their demands were fulfilled and revealed preparations for a sizable demonstration outside the government building the following week.<\/p>\n

The KU Academic Council accepted the admission guidelines<\/a> for the 2025 academic year in the interim, indicating that admissions will be made public in the final week of October, subject to the announcement of the results of the intermediate exams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
