Due to discovered legal and administrative irregularities, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet<\/a> overturned the previous government’s plan to promote nearly 130,000 school teachers.<\/p>\n

An official statement following the cabinet meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, stated, “The decision of the cabinet meeting, held on Jan 17, 2023, for the upgradation of various educational cadre employees in the education department has been withdrawn given legal and administrative anomalies identified by the finance department.”<\/p>\n

A significant upgrade of KP primary teacher posts from BPS-12 to BPS-14 was accomplished under the direction of previous Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, benefiting 51,736 teachers in the province. Upgrading 18,000 teachers in BPS-14, 21,300 teachers in BPS-15, over 22,000 secondary school teachers in BPS-17, and qualified teachers in BPS-15 were also included in the move.<\/p>\n

The policy decision’s reversal has spurred conversations about what this means for KP’s educational system<\/a>. At first, the KP renovations were meant to improve teachers’ financial situation and morale.<\/p>\n

But the present administration has rethought and finally undone these modifications when the finance department found irregularities in the law and administration. Although the precise nature of these anomalies has not been made public, it was decided that they were serious enough to cause the previous decision to be completely reversed.<\/p>\n
