At the Islamia University Baghdad Al-Jadeed campus<\/a>, an explosion at the Cholistan Institute of Desert Studies building is said to have been triggered by a gas leak on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Six people were hurt when half of the structure collapsed as a result of the explosion. Faculty staff and research students among the injured are being taken to Bahawal Victoria Hospital to for medical attention.<\/p>\n

Dr. Abdullah, the institute’s director, is one of the people with serious injuries. Among those injured in the explosion are two workers and two students.<\/p>\n

Two of the injured, according to sources, had significant burns from the fire that started after the chemical explosion.<\/p>\n

Authorities are responding to the explosion site, and the reason of the incident is being looked into.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
