It has been agreed by the Punjab School Education Departmen<\/a>t to work with the private sector to oversee and operate 13,000 government schools.<\/p>\n

Alarming statistics indicating that almost 25,000 government schools have just one teacher and 567 government schools have no teachers at all prompted the move.<\/p>\n

The department has made the decision to send schools with no teachers or with one teacher and at least fifty students to the Private Education Management Authority (Pema) in order to address this issue.<\/p>\n

2,903 schools will be run by non-governmental organisations in the third phase, while 4,453 schools would be turned over to the private sector in the second.<\/a><\/p>\n

Punjab has started its satellite internet programme in schools, according to independent news. Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, launched the pilot project at DPS Model Town.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Punjab vowed to empower Punjab digitally and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to giving students access to computers and satellite internet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
